Happy Fathers’ Day!

Happy Fathers’ Day to all you single moms out there. I hope you were all treated like kings.

For Fathers’ Day, Dad got a Garmin from his two kids and their spouses. (Mom pitched in too…) But more importantly, I bought him a pink t-shirt that said, “Dad: Tough enough to wear pink.” He wore it proudly all day yesterday. Two highlights to his day were when he spotted a guy wearing the same shirt on TV at the Astros/Mariners game and when some random lady walked up to him and said, “I think that shirt is pretty cool.”

On Friday and Saturday, I dragged my husband off to the local pub for some good food and fun music. We spent our little Fathers’ Day weekend snuggled up next to the out-door fire pits that line the music venue’s/pub’s patio. BTW, EXCELLENT food and drink.

What did you do with your dad? If your dad is gone, what was a funny memory that popped into your head yesterday?

Dad spent most of the day on the road – so Mum and I got him some interesting Hungarian cake when he wanted a sweet at 11pm ;D

Dad is gone – TO HAWAII, where he will abscond to with my child in 2 short weeks. For Farters’ Day, he got a phone call and confirmation that she is still coming. And he was danged happy with that!

I’m bad. I didn’t call my Dad until today. He was out mowing the back 40, so I had to chat with the Stepmom for a bit. eh.

It’s a GPS device so that Daddy doesn’t get lost while driving.

Sorry this is day late, and…well, late. My dad is gone. And it’s especially rough on mom right now because she was just diagnosed with a second primary cancer (the last one was 2 years ago, metastatic lung; now it’s breast). And I was the only one out of six kids who called her. (sorry to jack your blog, much super bad mojo around here lately, with no place to vent it). I miss dad terribly, but told him “Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!” long distance.

On a lighter note, my husband and father in law were treated to one of my super more-than-you-can-possibly-eat grilled dinners, complete with two types of steaks, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, grilled potatos, and apple pie for desert. All went away stuffed and happy. My hsuband was still snitching leftovers throughout the evening, and I found out my father in law spent most of the phonecall from one of his other sons bragging about the meal he’d had!
