Building up to something great…
There’s nothing like a comfy poodle butt to use as a pillow.
As my post title indicates, I have been building up to something great which is taking about 99.99999% of my time lately. I’m hoping for a great unvieling in the next week or so. I’m sorry to be such a damned tease but, seriously, I’ve got to talk about it or I’ll explode.
Everyone has my permission to flog the first commenter who says, “I know what it iiii-iiisss!”
Something else great… M and I will be leaving for Black Sheep Gathering on Friday night. We’ll only really be there for Saturday and we might pop in for a bit on Sunday. We’re meeting Marie (Marie found a close hotel that will take the doggies) for much merriment. Really excited. Really, really excited.
A Good Day
Yesterday, Brigitte asked: “How did you like working with the STR?”
I love it. I love this yarn, I love their colorways. I would like to knit up a sweater from one of their almost-solid colorways. I haven’t yet knitted with Koigu but I think I would still prefer STR over just about any of the other similar yarns. To be fair, I have only knitted socks from Socks That Rock, Cherry Tree Hill and Trekking.
I recently found a CD on which I had photos taken at a surprise party I threw for M’s 50th birthday. It was a very good day. Below is one of my favorite pictures. Our friend decided to open his beer with a crow bar.
Ooops…
Based on a couple of comments, I realized that I completely forgot to mention that I did, indeed spin that pinky/grey marvel. Yes, folks. I surprise the hell out of myself.
On to today’s installment of Cats Acting Like Cats.
Hmmmm… what could possibly be so interesting?
“Chitter, chitter…”
I love how the doves could really care less.
Quote of the Day
While discussing llamas that happen to be in a neighbor’s yard…
Me: They’re supposed to be frighteningly intelligent.
M: Of course. They’re part of the Illamanati.
Me: *groan*
M: They rule the world along with George Bush Sr. and the oil guys. They talk oil, I tell you!
Me: *sideways scowl*
M: No, I take that back. They were really talking lanolin. Can you believe it? The scandal!
Me: *heavy sigh*
My Weekend in Pictures
Saturday was opening day for shrimp season. I remember many of my teen years when I would spend my Saturdays (and Sundays and Mondays…) in May, curled up in the bow of the boat and catching some extra zzzz’s. I swear I could sleep through anything back then. This time, I tried to take my knitting. Or rather, I took my knitting but I’m old enough and wise enough to be able to participate in the workings of the shrimp machine. There was enough to do that I never did get around to knitting.

Poor Mr. Jellyfish wonders how the hell he got here. Don’t worry. We showed him how to get home.
Mr. Seagull eyes me suspiciously.
Rush-hour traffic jam, Pacific Northwest style.
Oysters for miles… Not that you’ll catch me eating any… *blech*
Errr…
You’ll be happy to know that the poodle did not sneak out of the house last night and drain any goats or cattle of blood. Nor did his head spin. He’s a good boy. He ran up the white flag this morning.
Non-sequitor: Does anyone have Aflac? How do you feel about it?
Daily dose of cute… Here’s Mr. Mew saying the Lord’s Prayer.
A bit of knit
I’ve been working (slowly) on the Lucy Top from Wendy’s book among other things. I’ve got the back done so I thought it is high time you get a glimpse of the product. Just so you know, there’s some serious camera-angle-distortion going on in that pic. I’m using a decadant Italian yarn of some kind that is a merino/silk blend. Pardon me that I don’t get up and grab the ball band right this second.
Even though I don’t seem to mind purling, this piece gave me a bit of a hand cramp. I’ve come to the conclusion that it is likely because I’m not used to using full sized straight needles. All that weight hanging off the end of the needle is a bit hard on my hands. It’s too late to switch now for fear of serious gauge consequences so I’m taking the front very slowly. The color is a scrumptious brown with a hint of burgandy in the right light. I’m really excited to be able to wear this. Although I’m certain it won’t be done in time to wear it in any cool sort of weather. I don’t care. I love it. So far. We always love it until we try it on, no?
